A place of contemplation and respect for the sacrifice of so many.

The Memorial also features a special recognition of the 391st Engineering Battalion of the US Army Reserve headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina and to the four Battalion soldiers killed in combat near Asadabad, Afghanistan – March 12, 2006.

Dawn to Dusk Park

Sitting adjacent to the Memorial, the Dawn to Dusk Park is a playground and outdoor exercise venue where youngsters and adults can gather to become acquainted, work out, or simply enjoy time around the fire pit. This park is an integral part of the Memorial.

Why a Memorial?

Those who served on foreign soil deserve to be honored and remembered. At a time in our history when the very foundations of our democracy are being challenged, we decided to construct a place where veterans can be quietly and respectfully given our thanks. Their personal sacrifice is a thing that will resonate forever.

In a time when civility, kindness and connection are all too scarce, the Oakleigh Veteran’s Memorial is a physical space to bring us together and pay tribute to our loved ones and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
